Best Day Ever In The Rinicuverse
January 28th, 2008
Sunday the 27th day of January 2008 was the best day in the history of the universe.
One of the tenets of Process Theololgy is that a mixture of both dull and intense experiences will ultimately position you closer to God in the universe. Yesterday was definitely very high on the intensity part.
I woke up at 6:40 and hit the ground running. I got completely ready, including coffee, and made it to Andre’s house by 6:58. But not before sending my very important external HD crashing 3 feet to the concrete floor. Worry about that later.
Had a nice dull car ride up to the mountain, just worked on my top secret startup on my laptop in the back seat. So that was good for the well balanced process theologian inside of me. That is until the kook/db in the Red Hummer (Washington plates and U of O stickers) went nutz trying to pass people, almost hitting oncoming traffic, swerved back hit the snow bank, over corrected and went spinning back to slam into the other snow bank. We all lived.
So then Andre, Robi-Wan Kanobi and myself shredded super awesome for 4 hours. One particular run, I dropped this sweet ledge into powder, almost annihilating the guys sitting underneath it. They got sprayed with snow. They were actually sitting there discussing on mountain safety, so figured I would join in on their discussion (personals…fuck yeah). We had to end the day early to make it to the 3:00 Blazers game. So we ended the day with a little Private Reserve. It got a little intense with Andre and Robi-Wan Kanobi wanting to do the cliffs above Elk Bowl, they gotta be like 50-75 feet but I’m not good at estimating heights. I went down below to scout their lines and they got down the cliff with masterful skill.
Walked into the Rose Garden still wearing our snowboarding gear and made it to our normal seats just in time to miss the national anthem but not the starting line-ups. This was the lowest point of the day, we were tired and the Blazers were getting slaughtered the entire game. Just when I thought the greatest day in the history of the universe was going to let us down, T-Law hit back-to-back threes from the same spot to spark our come back. Brandon took over from there, playing amazing D on Joe Johnson to secure the win.
At this point its 6PM. So we shotgunned some more beers, right then an ex-coworker Matt Mikos walks up. “Hows Life?” “Doing Great!” So we head back to Andre’s house for some of Danger Dave’s home-brewed Imperial stout, Papa Murphy’s Chicken Garlic Pizza and watched Fubar.
Then just to prove that it was the best day in the universe, at 11:52 PM a friend sent me this link (questionable NSFW) and if I wasn’t spending time with my Special Lady Friend I would have seen it that night.
If I wasn’t just so damm tired, I might have considered ending my own life, so i wouldn’t have to go through another day that just wasn’t as awesome as that. But I’m always standing on top of the world, its just that sometimes I notice the rest of the universe waiting to swallow me up.
PS: the HD was totally fine.
